China’s C919 and ARJ21 Aircraft Showcase Over Halong Bay

The Comac Airshow, inaugurating a series of aviation exhibitions by China’s leading aircraft manufacturer in five Southeast Asian countries, commenced at Van Don Airport, Quang Ninh Province. Attending the exhibition were Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province, and leaders of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam.

This marks the first time that the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac Air) has organized an exhibition and demonstration of Chinese commercial aircraft in Vietnam and at Van Don International Airport.

The two aircraft models showcased at this exhibition are the C919 and ARJ21. The large-sized passenger aircraft C919 accommodates 158-192 seats, with a seating configuration similar to Boeing 737 Max and Airbus A320/321 models. Meanwhile, the ARJ21 passenger aircraft is a two-engine jet with 78-97 seats.

These are also the two aircraft models exhibited and introduced by Comac Air at the Singapore Airshow 2024 held on February 20. The self-production of the C919 has placed China on the list of few countries capable of designing and manufacturing aircraft, alongside the United States, Russia, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

Immediately after the opening of the exhibition, in the afternoon of the same day, the exhibition aircraft of Comac Air performed demonstration flights, providing passengers with experiences and trial flights over Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, Quang Ninh, with the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. Concluding the event at Van Don, the aircraft will continue their exhibition journey to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vientiane, Laos, for further exhibitions organized by Comac Air.
