Halong Bay has been recognized as the only representative of Vietnam and has been honored as the second most beautiful natural destination in the world, according to the announcement by Tripadvisor.
In the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2024 ranking for the Most Beautiful Natural Destinations in the World category, Halong Bay of Vietnam was hailed as a renowned destination. The natural beauty here comprises thousands of limestone islands in various shapes, along with numerous caves to explore such as Thien Cung Cave, Surprise Cave, and Tam Cung Cave. Tripadvisor suggests various experiential activities in the bay, including booking cruises and overnight stays, kayaking, exploring famous caves, and enjoying seafood delicacies.
Located in Quang Ninh Province, Halong Bay is known internationally as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
Topping the list of 25 destinations is the capital city of Kathmandu in Nepal – surrounded by a valley rich in historical relics with villages and ancient temples. Other Asian destinations in the top list include Tangalle, described by Tripadvisor as the “hidden gem of Sri Lanka,” and the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, as well as Lombok Island in Indonesia.
Previously, Halong Bay was also honored by Tripadvisor in the category of Top Trending Destinations in the World 2024, ranking third after Tokyo, Japan, and Seoul, South Korea.
The selection criteria are based on requirements such as naturally stunning and magnificent scenery, destinations where travelers can easily immerse themselves in nature and experience excitement. The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best categories will be announced gradually throughout the year instead of all at once.
